Amaranthus is a C4 plant tolerant to drought, and diseases suitable option for climate change. This could form part of every region’s cultural heritage can be transferred the next generation. Moreover, multipurpose that has been identified as traditional edible vegetable endowed with nutritional value, besides its fodder, medicinal, nutraceutical, industrial, ornamental potentials. In recent decade received increased research interest. Despite endowment, there dearth awareness numerous potential benefits hence, it being underutilized. Suitable cultivation systems, innovative processing, value-adding techniques promote utilization are scarce. However, food-based approach suggested sustainable measure tackles food-related problem, especially in harsh weather. Thus, this review, literature search updated progress uses from online databases peer-reviewed articles books was conducted. addition, nomenclature, nutritional, nutraceutical reviewed. The species focus highlighted review include, A. blitum, caudatus, cruentus, dubius, hypochondriacus, spinosus, thunbergii, tricolor, viridis.
